João Francisco, former board member of Academic Association of the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro and undergraduate student in Agronomic Engineering, has been appointed by FADU Portugal as Secretary-General of the 2026 FISU World University Championship Orienteering, which will take place in Vila Real from 28 July to 1 August 2026.
FADU Portugal has already met with the newly appointed Secretary-General this Friday, 12 December, marking the beginning of the joint work and the definition of the strategies and procedures essential for the organisation of the event.
The 2026 World University Orienteering Championship will bring together student-athletes from several countries, in a competition that will showcase both the natural landscape and the sporting tradition of the Vila Real region.
