WUC Orienteering 2026 Preparations Advance with Visit to UTAD Student Residences

Institutional 20 December 2025

As part of the ongoing preparations for the WUC Orienteering 2026, a site visit was held on December 18 to the new student residence facilities of the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), in Vila Real.

The visit was attended by Ricardo Bento, UTAD Vice-Rector for Planning, Territory and Assets, João Francisco, Secretary-General of the WUC Orienteering 2026, Francisco Branco, representative of the UTAD Academic Association (AAUTAD), as well as the engineer responsible for the construction works.

During the visit, participants monitored the progress of the residence infrastructure currently under development, which will be used for the first time during the WUC Orienteering 2026. These facilities will play a key role in accommodating delegations and highlight the lasting legacy of the event, benefiting both the university community and the city of Vila Real.

This visit is part of the broader coordination and planning efforts involving FADU Portugal, UTAD and local stakeholders, aimed at ensuring high-quality conditions for athletes, officials and delegations, in line with the standards of an international university sports competition.
