FADU Portugal Meets with UTAD Rector in Preparation for the 2026 FISU World University Championship Orienteering

FADU Portugal met on December 18 with the Rector of the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD), Jorge Ventura, in Vila Real, as part of the preparations for the 2026 FISU World University Championship Orienteering.

The meeting took place at the UTAD campus and brought together representatives from both institutions to discuss key aspects of planning and coordination for the upcoming international competition. In attendance on behalf of FADU Portugal were Diogo Salgado Braz, President of FADU Portugal, Diogo Gomes, Vice-President, Diogo Lopes (International Competitions Department) and João Francisco, Secretary-General of the event.

Representing UTAD were Rector Jorge Ventura, UTAD Administrator João Paulo Moura, and Pro-Rector Emanuel Peres, while the AAUTAD (Academic Association of UTAD) was represented by President Fernando Gonçalves and Francisco Branco, a student leader.

The meeting focused on institutional collaboration, logistical planning, academic engagement and other strategic elements essential to delivering a successful World University Orienteering Championships — an event that will bring together elite student-athletes from around the world.

This session underscores FADU Portugal’s ongoing commitment to working closely with higher education institutions and local partners to build strong foundations for major international university sport events and to maximise their sporting, social and regional impact.
